Coffee beans are a great gift! Since you're buying several types, you might like to buy those little packets of coffee which are just enough to make one pot. They don't come in bean form, but are already ground and come in all kinds of flavors.

If you'd prefer to buy the coffee unground, ask the person behind the counter how much to buy for a pot. Coffee shop employess are great--well trained and very willing to help. The person may ask you what kind of pot your friend has, which brings up a question you need to know the answer to.

Does your friend have a coffee grinder? If not, either buy one to go with the coffee or make sure you buy the coffee already ground. I do have a grinder, but I have the shop grind it. I do love fresh coffee, but I'm only willing to do so much work for it.
